If you what to submit it through our page, just answer this post!

Why do you vote Democrat?

State of the Union

(watch it here)

We had a great time (once we actually found the room) watching the President give his annual State of the Union address. He touched on some great points (education, spending, payroll tax cuts, ending Bush era tax cuts to name a few), told a few jokes (that didn’t seem to make Congress laugh…) and called for national unity.

As always it was a wonderful speech and we hope to see many of the ideas he proposed on Tuesday implemented throughout the coming years!

Yet another Republican debate!
This time we decided to have a viewing party and see just how offended we could get…
We got pretty offended…
While we were disappointed that they didn’t touch on gay rights, abortion (well a lot) and other social issues, we got a kick out of candidates just making things up, dodging questions etc… You know, typical stuff. Newt decided that child labor was alright (in that taking away union janitor jobs and having 30 poor children in their place was a good idea). Lots of attacking Obama (although not as much as expected, but it is a primary after all). Santorum says that girls should get married to avoid poverty and that we shouldn’t be only telling kids to make good choices, but explicitly telling them what those good choices are. Gotta hate love those Republicans.
Can’t wait to see what the nominee is going to say in the general election. If the past is any indication, it will be way more moderate than what they are saying now.
Looking forward to more entertaining (and offensive) Republican debates. We probably wont have to wait too long…
Oh and this picture is just hilarious.

First ASUYD Meeting of the 2012!

We had some WONDERFUL guest speakers for our first meeting! State Senator David Schapira came and spoke with us about his exploratory committee about a run for the US Congress and Mark Mitchell came to talk about his bid for Tempe Mayor! Our brand new president Selianna walked us through our upcoming events, Badass of the Week and GOP Shame! We ended it all with some great (if a little cold) pizza and some fun socializing :)
